Donning the bridal gown during the first two locations of our pre-wedding shoot, Frederick and Michelle concluded the last location with a casual outfit. It was like a breath of fresh air for Michelle, to be able to change out of the heavy bridal gown.

Opting for casual outfits during your pre-wedding shoot can be an absolute win! Here’s why:

Firstly, casual wear is easy and comfortable. Just look at Frederick and Michelle, they can move freely and comfortably. No stiff collars, no restrictive fabrics, just both of them at ease. Imagine strolling hand in hand, sharing whispered secrets, or stealing kisses without worrying about adjusting their formal gown or suit. Casual outfits make those candid moments effortless.

Secondly, being casual brings out authenticity and relatability. When you’re comfortable, your true personalities shine through. I get to capture the real you — the laughter, the quirks, the inside jokes. These shots feel relatable to viewers because they depict everyday moments. Being casual encourage genuine interactions. You’ll find yourselves laughing, whispering sweet nothings, and sharing stories. Think of it as a relaxed date where the camera happens to be there. Those unscripted smiles are priceless!

Thirdly, in casual outfits give you location freedom. That means, if you want to dance in a park, kick off your shoes, or run through a field, the casual outfits say, “Go ahead!” They’re perfect for spontaneous adventures.

As Frederick and Michelle embracing the comfort and be themselves, their love shine through those casual threads.

The shoot went unexpectedly well at Firangi Superstar after our initial plan to shoot at Jurong Lake Gardens was ruined by the heavy thunderstorm. The sky cleared up with the weather now in our favor. We proceeded to National Gallery for our second location. National Gallery has always been a beloved shooting location amongst the wedding couples.

The magnificent National Gallery is a place where art, history, and romance converge. It’s architecture is nothing short of breathtaking. Imagine strolling through elegant corridors, surrounded by colonial-style facades and intricate details. It’s like stepping into a historical romance novel. Every corner whispers timeless elegance.

Another reason for its popularity is for its indoor convenience. As we all know, Singapore’s weather can be a bit… shall we say, enthusiastic? For couples who prefer not to melt under the tropical sun, the National Gallery offers indoor spaces. No need to worry about rain or humidity during the pre-wedding shoot.

Not to mention, the gallery restricts personal photoshoots to the morning hours (between 7:30 am and 9:30 am) before it opens to the public. That means we’ll have the place almost to ourselves — no photobombing tourists!

Back to the main topic of this post, this is the first part of a 3-part series of Frederick and Michelle’s pre-wedding. This post came late (as usual), as I have already posted their wedding last year. As the saying goes, it is better late than never.

Frederick and Michelle’s pre-wedding was supposed to start in the early morning. We were so hyped so as we travelled afar to Jurong Lake Gardens for our first location. Unfortunately, heavy rain and I mean really heavy rain came pouring down just as we started shooting. Even though we took cover in a nearby minuscule shelter, we were still getting drenched from head to toes. That’s when we decided to cancel the morning shoot. Sigh~

When one door closes, another opens. Because we failed to shoot at the beautiful Jurong Lake Gardens, another opportunity open up for us. We managed to get special permission to shoot at this unique and modern Indian restaurant that Frederick is working as a chef — Firangi Superstar. This restaurant is amazingly beautiful, it is cosy and warm and affectionate. The interior is outrageous so to speak and has vibrant themed rooms and decor that transports us to another world. The entire ambience is just so cinematic and we were just so thrilled to shoot over here.

A new year and a new post to kickoff a fresh beginning. Happy 2023 everyone!

I remember my first post of 2022 that I will write more often and post more pictures in my blog. And I achieved that! Now, here is 2023 and I believed I can do it even better this year. Haven’t felt this motivated for such a long time. Especially with the support that came from my faithful clients and vendors that allowed me to create more contents and beautiful images. Thank you, guys, for the unwavering trust in me.

Yvonne and ZT were referred by Vienna of Giorgia Couture. Vienna and I have worked together on many occassions. She has been really nice to introduce her couples over numerous times. I will probably share our styled shoot collaboration that we did last year in the next post. Watch out for that!

This series of images was actually taken last year in February. Usually, I will not share the images until the couple’s wedding is over. Generally, the pictures are kept out of public eyes so that there is still an element of surprise for the couple’s guests on their wedding day. This requires a lot of patience especially a prewedding shoot often takes place three to six months before the wedding. Then again, sometimes the excitement to share often get hold of me and I will release one or two images as teasers or previews.

National Gallery is definitely a popular location for prewedding photoshoots. Over here, one can escape from the heat on a sunny day or take shelter from the rain on a wet day. Labrador Park is, however, a place that I haven’t step into for a long long time. This park holds a sentimental value to Yvonne and ZT since this is their dating ground. So many fond memories were made. It is no wonder why they picked this location as one of their photoshoot venues.

This is like a mini-series, not overloaded with tonnes of pictures and then slowed down the loading in the process. With fewer pictures, I feel that one can slowly take their time to admire the craft and the beauty within the images, which the couple and myself had spent so much effort trying to create. Moreover, I categorized the post by the location that we shot in. In this manner, my prospects or even other photographers can easily search and reference these pictures when they want to use that location for their shoot.

Eric and Carole’s shoot brought us to National Gallery, an urban landscape, and Botanic Gardens, a greenery landscape. Which was why we decided our third location should be somewhere we can have a bit more fun and candid moments. Thus, onwards to our next location at The Oval in Seletar Aerospace Park, right next to the Seletar Airport. This place holds a slice of Singapore’s colonial past. Numerous black and white bungalows were built and have been slated for conservation. There’s even a scenic boardwalk where everyone can catch a perfect view of planes taking off and landing. Almost forgot to mention, amongst the whimsical dining restaurants and open spaces lies an aviation-theme playground.

The perfect place where I can get the couple to let down their hair.

With fewer pictures, I feel that one can slowly take their time to admire the craft and the beauty within the images, which the couple and myself had spent so much effort trying to create. Moreover, I categorized the post by the location that we shot in. In this manner, my prospects or even other photographers can easily search and reference these pictures when they want to use that location for their shoot too.

This part of the Botanic Gardens was our next location to shoot. Initially, I had this location scheduled as the first, but as always, plans don’t stick. Mother Nature knows best and I can only work around it. After some googling, this part of the garden is known as the Evolution Garden.

There goes the misty forest feel that I wanted in the early morning. Nevertheless, we had a tremendous time shooting under the coverage of the tree’s canopy in a nice and cooling weather after the heavy downpour. I believed Evolution Garden has only been opened up, which is probably why the lack of people exercising and sightseeing here, in contrast to the busy crowd in the gardens central. The lesser the people, the better it is, for me and for the couple. No awkwardness, no intrusive stares from the passers-by, and certainly no need to photoshop away people from the background.

Beyond doubt, this is going to be my new favourite place to shoot and I will be bringing other couples to this cool location.

Back to the couple, Eric and Carole brought our photoshoot to the National Gallery Singapore. Although a permit and fees are needed to book the place for a shoot, I truly think that the fees are worth it. National Gallery Singapore’s monumental buildings create a stunning backdrop for timeless and retro vibes.

This wasn’t supposed to be the first location for our shoot. But a heavy thunderstorm in the early morning had us change our plan. A typical day for photoshoots, it is either sunshine or heavy rain in Singapore. Thinking on my feet, I quickly shuffled our timing and locations around, and made this day’s shoot possible.

On my first meeting with Carole, we hit off really well. Like an old friend. But the kinds of stuff we talked about are more on the serious side. She is a tutor and being a dad, I spent a great deal of time coaching my kids’ primary school works, especially during their PSLE year. So you can imagine the things we talked about. Haha!

Eric, on the other hand, is a humourous guy. With him around, laughter broke out more often than not. As a result, my job just got so much easier. Carole was smiling and laughing all the time. It was a full-day shoot, but with Eric and his light-hearted moments, we simple breezed through the day without anyone complaining tired.

Sincerely, I think Eric and Carole make an amazing couple together!
