So you are in a pickle because you’ve planned your dream wedding and suddenly, the world has come to a standstill because of COVID-19. It’s upsetting for you, and it’s definitely distressing for everyone else too.

But during these uncertain times, it’s important to know that you have options if you ever need to postpone your wedding plans. For right now, it’s all about taking care of ourselves and those around us, so that we can heal and come back better than before.

We understand that you are probably feeling disappointed, hurt and exasperated because of the present situation. Don’t let those emotions get to you, you need to realise that being flexible is what will ultimately save the day.

So try not to panic! Your wedding will still be the best day of your life, and we are here to give you some peace of mind.

1. Contact Your Wedding Vendors

Postponing wedding plans, while a nightmare, could be a whole lot easier if you have a wedding planner. This is because it’ll be their job to get in touch with all of the vendors.

However, if you are planning your wedding yourself, the best thing to do would be to make a list of all of your vendors and companies involved and get in touch with them.

Find out about the implications if you postpone your wedding plans and also discuss with them any workarounds if you are bounded by the terms of your contract. Try working towards an open date because you never know when this pandemic is going to be over.

2. Talk with Your Wedding Venue

It’s no secret that wedding venues fill up their spots quite early on. So if you have already secured your venue, you’ll want to talk with them about the steps you can take. Perhaps you could secure a possible date further in the future, or you are eligible to receive some form of remuneration.

Again, you will have agreed to some kind of terms of agreement with your wedding venue, so take a look at those to guide you.

3. Give an Update to Your Wedding Guest List

You may think everyone would naturally assume that your big day has been postponed, but don’t leave it to chance. It’s important to make a big effort when it comes to letting your invitees know that your wedding has been postponed.

Also, if you are thinking ahead, and have tentatively pre-booked a new date further in the future, talk to your guests and vendors before you make anything official.

4. Be Open to Ideas

COVID-19 has caused disruption worldwide. From health sectors to the economy, ad even mental health, people are feeling the various effects from this pandemic.

For that reason, keeping an open mind and a positive attitude go a long way. Some of your ideas may no longer be possible, and maybe you won’t be able to have your grand wedding. But at the end of the day, open yourself up to finding new ways to have your dream wedding.

Also, it may actually save you money to have an intimate micro wedding.

5. Your Original Wedding Date Celebrations

Sure, you may need to postpone wedding plans. And sure, it’s not the best news you’ve ever heard. But, as we mentioned, keeping a positive attitude is the key when it comes to overcoming the effects of COVID-19.

For that reason, we suggest having a celebration on your original wedding date, regardless. While a social gathering isn’t possible, do something special to remember the day. Pop open a bottle of champagne and cheers to an even better wedding day.

The world has changed almost overnight. What began as a rumour of a strange virus in a far-off city has inexorably turned into a global pandemic, with implications for life across the entire globe. Aside from the human tragedy of death and dying, an economic malaise has begun that could continue for the rest of the year and perhaps beyond.

However, in the midst of the uncertainties, always be reminded of what your wedding day is for. At the end of the day, it is about you and your partner. Despite all your efforts that may have gone down the drain, safety is still the utmost priority. The most important thing for you couples is to keep calm and collected. In times like this, panic and anxiety is the last thing that I want anyone to feel.

In light of the prevailing COVID-19 situation, I completely understand the uncertainty you faced whether your planned wedding will be affected. For couples who are planning your wedding day, I also concede that it is difficult to make any kind of arrangement right now.

Thus, I have made some amendments to our policy in place for couples who are sourcing for wedding photography during these trying times. And at the same time, I would like to address concerns to our couples who have engaged our services.

To my couples, if you wish to defer your wedding day, we will allow postponement without any additional cost, taking into account that we are available on the new date.

To new couples, below are the details to my policy amendment targeting this COVID-19 circumstance.

Postponement. You are allowed to reschedule your wedding as long as we are available on the new date, with no additional cost. Read here if you are postponing your wedding.

Cancellation. In the unfortunate event that cancellation has to happen, although the deposit is non-refundable, we allow the amount to be converted as credits for other services such as photoshoots for family, maternity and portraits.

Failure to perform. In the unfortunate event that our team is not able to deliver the service due to quarantine/SHN/LOA because of COVID-19, and no replacement photographer is available, we will provide a full refund of deposit of service that is not delivered.

We’re trying our best to help all our couples, but we do hope that you do understand our struggles too.
