These three posts feature a styled shoot I did late last year. Collaborated with the amazing teams from Louvre Bridal and Ana Hana Flower, together we created this series of beautiful images that I would like to share with all the wedding couples out there.

Nothing makes me happier than couples who want to take their prewedding photos at home. Not going after epic “instagrammable” backdrops, but going to places of significance. I think the reason for that is, of course, it takes the pressure off of all of us. Pressure off of finding a place, scouting locations, and putting the energy into shooting somewhere that they feel so relaxed and still look great in photos. In-home sessions can be a great way to immediately give a sense of comfort to the couple being photographed, as it’s happening on “their turf”.

Ten Reasons for Doing a Prewedding Photoshoot at Home

• Unique: It’s YOUR place (vs. a beautiful public place).
• Comfort: There’s nothing like the comfort of one’s home. Shooting there will make you relaxed.
• Privacy: No random people photobombing your shots and/or making you feel awkward.
• Intimacy: Comfort and privacy lead to moments that are a lot more intimate than somewhere public.
• Time Capsule: Your photos are even more significant because they capture your nest. Down the line, they’ll remind you of your shared past in even more special ways.
• Daily Life: We get to capture your everyday life (cooking, Netflix and chill, shower  …)
• Weather: No need to worry about weather.
• Light: We are not limited to sunrise or sunset, as long as there is enough natural light coming through.
• Outfits: So much easier to change into different outfits since everything you own is there.
• Effortless: This one is for partners who hate taking pictures. Think of it like you’re ordering room service—you get the whole experience without leaving home!

So for the next three posts, I will feature a styled shoot I did late last year. Collaborated with the amazing teams from Louvre Bridal and Ana Hana Flower, together we created this series of beautiful images that I would like to share with all the wedding couples out there.

We love wedding dresses, they make you look like a princess and set a feminine, romantic tone for your wedding. However, if you are looking for something cool and unconventional, a bridal pantsuit is an alternative to consider. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the classic A-frame wedding gown, but as weddings continue to take on new forms and traditions evolve, more people are choosing to skip the gowns for bridal pantsuits, tailored rompers and versatile two-piece sets that bring an entirely different vibe to the day. A chic pantsuit can look just as incredible as any dress, and it definitely brings out your individual style.

That is why for the first part of the series, we had Denise, wearing a bridal pantsuit, frolicking with her beau. Ever so carefree and relaxed. Later on, we added a detachable organza train to add the finishing touch to a delicate and ladylike look. How neat is that!

For a complete one-of-a-kind styling, we had chosen a multi-storey car park and that served as the ideal location to bring urban chic flare to life. We couldn’t resist the edgy, fashion-forward vibes that the MSCP offers. Urban chic styling is cosmopolitan, modern, minimalist design at its best. Hence, I felt that the car park’s plain walls and gritty concrete floors are just what we need to feature together with the bridal pantsuit.

Last but not least, held in Denise’s hands was a dried and preserved bridal bouquet. Talk about uniqueness, this is it. In the past, dried flowers were perceived as not being as vibrant as their fresh-cut counterparts, but that’s all changing. The biggest upside of selecting preserved flowers; There is no need to worry about them wilting on your wedding day. Plus, you can cherish them long after the big day has come and gone.

Casual Couple Photography

The long-awaited and first blog post of the new year 2022.

It has been a lengthy hiatus from some time before the last quarter of 2021. With the constant changes to the SMM guidelines, many weddings and photoshoots were planned pretty last minute. Thus, when the rules and restrictions were being relaxed towards the end of the year, we have seen more couples getting married and more families doing photoshoots.

Which leads to my very busy year-end schedule and the very heavy post-editing workload. But hey, no one is complaining.

During this period, this lovely couple, Ash and Kevin, came to me for casual couple photography. Interestingly, both of them aren’t from locally. Kevin is from Hong Kong whilst Ash is from Malaysia, and fate brought them together while working here in this little red dot. Due to the pandemic, none of them has returned to their home country to visit their families. Missing home, they were eager to share a piece of good news with their families — Kevin’s recent proposal to Ash! So they decided to capture their love and have the photoshoot planned at a location that clearly tells of their romance in Singapore.

Before I end this post with their loving photos, I would like to thank Ash for being an avid reader and supporter of my blog posts. It warmly fills my heart with great joy and comfort when she revealed her liking to reading my posting. Probably she is not the only one, I hope not. Maybe there is more out there like her. For those who have been following my works, I will strive to write and post more often. This will be my new year resolution.

Celebrating Calvin + Hongyi

These two lovebirds dated when they were both studying in NUS Kent Ridge campus. Calvin studied in Biological Science and Hongyi in History. Many fond memories were built within the school campus during those university days and now this creative couple decided to be solemnized in Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum. This interesting venue plays an significant role as it strongly connects both of them to their beliefs and memories.

Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum is very new to me, I have never step foot in this place before. So I made the decision to visit it to get myself familiarize and scout for spots for the shoot. It is always best to understand how the light situation might be during those hours of solemnization and be well-prepared. I was $16 poorer after the visitation but I totally understand why Calvin and Hongyi chose the museum for their solemnization venue.

Calvin and Hongyi held their wedding banquet two weeks ago and I shall leave that in another blog post. Until next time!

Finding a kindred spirit is one of the most joyous experiences a person can have. And I can recognize Joshua and Huiyi as kindred spirits as soon as we met. No doubt I can see the special connection that they have from the time that I spent together with them. They shared the same beliefs, attitudes and feelings, and all of these built that special bond which joined them.

Predictably, the shoot started off with a light drizzle. As excited as I was, the slanted drizzle trickling down did not dampened the couple’s spirits at all. As unpredictable as the weather, the light shower ceased. I was hoping for a rainbow, but it never came. Nevertheless, the air was fresher and cooler than before. I really enjoyed that.

As I mentioned earlier, Joshua and Huiyi are a pair of kindred spirits. I can easily tell when they looked at each other in the eyes. The passion within was strong even though they showed shyness whenever I asked for intimate moments. Giggles and laughter were often heard. I knew the shoot is going to be a breeze.

Joshua and Huiyi make such a lovely couple. I had a great time doing their pre-wedding shoot. I adore them! And I will be sharing their amazing wedding session photos soon. Keep watching :)

A tick off my wish list! Dakota Crescent is one of the places that I wish to shoot at, simply because that place has its old charm and is a world away from the hustle and bustle of urban Singapore. The now abandoned units with little occupancy left and quiet surroundings almost makes me feel like time travelling back to the past, back to my school days when a few of my classmates stayed there and we would hang around playing. Visiting Dakota Crescent again is down the memory lane.

And all thanks to the lovely couple Amanda and Marcus. With a vintage theme in mind, I proposed to them Dakota Crescent will be the perfect place for their shoot. Peaceful neighbourhood with a dove-shaped playground nestled in the heart of the estate, the couple concurred with the idea which I felt was fabulous! Doves perfectly symbolizes love and romance, and shooting a pre-wedding photography at the dove-shaped playground can’t be anymore befitting. We were so looking forward to the shoot.

Squeals of joy erupted from the old dove playground as we begun our shoot, Amanda and Marcus couldn’t contain their laughters. We were behaving like children again, throwing any stress that we might have to the back of our minds, we let loosed and enjoyed ourselves. I have to say, this shoot is probably one of the easiest that I’ve shot so far.

Time really flies, as the sky remained warmly lit by the sun trying to prise the last of its amber rays over the rooftops, we gathered ourselves to the playground again to end our fleeting but fantastic shoot. Dakota Crescent is artlessly a marvelous place to do a pre-wedding shoot, however, the scene is bittersweet as it is slated for redevelopment by the end of 2016.

“A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love”

It’s towards the end of the year and you pretty much guessed it that wet weather is one of my main concerns. November rain has always been generous and it had been raining continuously for that few days. I did this shoot 6 days ago and the night before, lightning was flashing just like how my camera flash would lit up the whole ballroom, and my sleep was accompanied by the rain throughout.

I didn’t exactly pray for good weather but the sky was so clear when I woke up. Good sign. Keep it that way, I was thinking, which really did. The sun was shining brightly with the morning getting a little bit too hot for comfort. Shoot went smoothly, we tried a few new things and most of all, the pictures turned out really great!

Showing one of my favorite pictures, all because her smile is as bright as the sunshine.
